Where can I find info on general roofing?
i.e. felt; ridge; valley; shingle installation/pattern; edges; flashing, etc?

I'm doing my own roof. I have an idea but am looking for some reference.

Thanks

The library has a tremendous resource of roofing information. Manufacturer's web sites also have a vault of installation techniques and recommended accessories. YOu may also want to try the National Roofing Contractor's Association (NRCA).

MY best advice is to use the recomendations of your roofing material manufacturer. www.gaf.com www.certianteed.com

Good luck on your roof. Don't forget the metal flashings.

NRCA's "Handbook of Roofing & Waterproofing" is the best. Expensive to buy, but some libraries have it. Also, the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) puts out a great 30 page pamplet on shingling. Most shingle reps have copies handy to give out.

My favorite source (for when the homeowner's are an*l retentive) is the bundle wrapper.
Homeowner: "What are you doing?"
Me: "Just reading up on out how to put these things on. I should have it pretty soon."
