For screwing up another good thread!

Way to go... Maybe some day you will grow up and contribute to this forum instead of screwing it up for everyone.

At least (I) try! No... Tried.

What type of doors are they?
Luckily they are just flat panels. If they were raised panel I was going to (try) and dismantle them and cut off 12" of the raised panel and the 2 sides. Or just build new raised panel doors if that was going to be easier than modifying the old ones. The Flat paneled doors was a welcomed surprise.

What'd you have in mind?

Want them 12" from the ceiling but bottom height to stay the same.

That makes no sense, MZ.

What exactly is your goal?
Are you familiar with the construction of a cabinet?
Do you know that you are going to have to reframe the top of every cabinet if you attempt to do this?
You gotta be messing with us.
And where are you getting your weed? I'm sure some others on this site would like to know.

It makes perfect sense... Studs are verticle so it will mount back exactly where it was before.
If you look at the drawing, I'm cutting off the top and putting it back so I don't have to "re-frame" it.

I didn't go into detail on how I will remount the top but it will be strong!

Tell me what will make it work or what I will have to do.
Don't tell me I can't do it... CAN'T isn't a possibility.

I agree. It is possible with a lot of careful work. But your going to diminish the strength of those cabinets if you do not rebuild the framework.

Grant you, I am not a cabinet maker, but I'm not stupid either. These are uppers that hold a lot of weight when full.

I'm curious as to why your cutting them down vs. replacing them. Are these cabinets in your own home?

I didn't add the tags to the thread...I was merely reading them at the bottom of the page. I figure you added them to make the thread searchable, no?

Mac

ETA: ah ha, and now they've been edited to remove "hack job" and "MZ HANDYMAN".

2nd ETA: After looking at the tags and Edit tags more closely, I see that others can add tags to a thread they didn't start. That doesn't sound right. Only the author of the thread should be able to add tags to his/her own thread. My bad for bringing it up - I thought you put all the tags in yourself...

Please update us with photos when done.
Will do, I do before during after photos and HOW-TO videos. Sometimes they are HOW NOT TO videos ha ha.

I'm supposed to start this job on monday but I just found out (Via E-mail) she was admitting her Hubby to the Hospital yesterday which explains why she was unavailable today for taking measurements.

She needs to take care of him before we do anything.

He'll be in our prayers!

How cool. Do a video on this and share it with us here on CT. I think it would be kind of fun to see the process on this job.
