What's the deal with that steel beam?

I think since it's 14' high with 3- 6'x 6'4" windows and 6'x 3' transoms above there's not enough framing for shear wall. Plus that the area is all patio below on lakefront.

The lower beam extends out both ways for decks. It gets masonry columns at both ends

Building it was fun… Getting it up, not so much. Personally, I would've preferred framing in the curves as well, but a couple of other people who happened to be writing the checks figured otherwise...

You get all the cool ones! I've got two more of the same ranches I've been doing with the radiused arch in them and a two family condo. I'm happy to be busy but it gets a little redundant after a while

We did. After the windows came. Long story short, the last framer who built something like this butchered the framing and the window didn't fit. Apparently it was quite the process to fix, so we were told to do it this way.

Not to be critical, but I can't help but notice one of your windows is a 1/16 out.

Prolly the one I used a square on. Oh, well. After all, it is an R.O. Significant digits are 3/4".

And the whole thing was plumbed with a laser.

Tall wall we lifted a few days ago . We had to sub this framing out because our crew is busy elsewhere . It's a big place with a wicked roof but what can ya do . Crazy wall I say
