Sure -

Materials: primarily laminated 23/32" rated sheathing, cut on the CNC, joints are puzzle joints / tab-in-slot, egg crate, as appropriate to the location and reinforced with GRKs. Also CNC cut steel or LVLs in situations that require it.

Delivery: we quote all jobs with delivery and have our own trucks / trailers. We ship nationwide, and have even shipped on occasion to other countries (Canada, Bahamas)

One of our guys goes with the driver for the first project with any new client, to help coordinate install on site and alleviate trepidation with a new process.

Install: We don't provide installation - the contractor provides the crane / contstruction forklift and the manpower. We send detailed instructions. Everything is designed as a modular "drop-in" type installation, very similar to setting windows/doors.

Time Frame: Ideally, we get involved at bid stage, we provide hard numbers for the curved / complex parts of the framing, so that comparisons can be made to site built numbers / time / quality.

Once we're turned loose, we 3D model the areas, including all finished surfaces so that we make sure the framing accommodates them. We send drawings of the "holes" that the framer needs to frame for our "drop-in" assembles, so they are not slowed down waiting on us.

Once our model is complete, we submit it to the contractor's engineer for approval (we've never had one not get stamped), and then we fabricate.

The schedule varies, but we make sure that there is NO delay on the job - in fact, if we are involved from the beginning, the site time is considerably reduced.

We do anything that make sense from an efficiency standpoint - here's an example: There's some intermediate changes by the interior designer that aren't documented here, but you get the idea.

Thanks.........I would think the shipping would likely be the deal killer.
Warren,

It depends - but digital fabrication is generally less, even taking into account the shipping cost.

Just as an example, we have 6 eyebrows going to Minnesota in a couple of weeks (I'll take pics).

Shipping is 2300.00

According to the builder, when all aspects / job costs (in other words, a true apples to apples comparison) are taken into account, it's about an 8% savings to have the dormers digitally fabricated, rather than site built.

And, like all other technology, it's getting less expensive all the time as we streamline and automate.

You got me thinking. We have a big frame coming up that has 3 towers with bell shaped roofs. One of the towers is round, the other two octagonal. I know the time that it takes on site to build these. Not to mention we are dealing with heights and weather. I am not the GC on this, but I know him really well. I could see us craning those roofs up and saving a lot of time on site. Winter is fast approaching also so, we could sure get covered up quickly too.

Here's a neat shot of that one we did a while ago, and another one that we are working on right now - it gets installed in Chevy Chase MD in a trussed house in a couple of weeks. I'll try and remember to tell our driver to get some good pics.

Wrapped up the addition last week. Garage roof is bastard hip 4/12 and 8/12, 24" and 7" eave due to property line.
That's a nice straight, clean job! On a bastard hip, even. Looks like it all planed out very nicely.

Sheathed the walls, now we are waiting for a suspended slab to be set and the timber framers to do the roof beams.
