There are 4 of these massive columns. This house has had a bunch of changes. We had to go around and drop the facia. Wrong details/measurements on the plans. And about 10 niches. We are realizing this drafter for the builder we are working for has no clue what she's doing. Oh well the more changes the more we get to charge.

I head for Maui tomorrow guys have probably 2-3 more days left here. Then we are slow for a bit. Hopefully something comes up while I'm gone.

Law of unintended consequences- the builder raised the foundation up 18" because it "flowed better" but left the garage floor level as is. Now he thinks there's too much space between the top of the garage doors and the soffit so he wants me to raise the garage headers a foot. ***hole!

We have missed a few garage headers by a foot over the years. Raising them is a pain, but doable.

We leave it down for shear. It's already an 8 footer, but his thought was to raise the header AND the floor. Now you've made a steeper drive, created a runoff problem with the neighbors drive, and have to bring in a whole lotta fill. I told him why not just put in 9' doors?

5 days in on this 6 pack. Worst foundation I've seen in 5 years. So bad we couldn't sheet the garage walls on the ground as they would teeter. Out of level out of square and up and down is what they are getting. Can't shim 1 1/2" over 9'. Not one I'm glad to have my name on. Should have second floor on and sheeted tomorrow.
Total is 9800sqft.

Did this yesterday
Nothing special but it looks good
Took special care to not put purlins at 1/2 and 1/4 points for sake of lights to be installed

I am doing a barrel on the porch too, pushing for a groin vault in another room!
