snapped this pic before lunch today. after lunch we got up all the 12'6" walls. all the walls in the picture are 9'9". so yes, we've had to cut every single stud on this job so far. plus we lost a few days to rain and a few other days to pull off to go to other jobs. and we're not allowed to work there on Saturdays. very slow going job for us. we're used to flying.
Looks really small for 700 sq

30,000 sqft house just down the road from our new start. We started framing for this builder that does giant customs a lot. They have their own in-house framers but have been struggling to keep up with demand. Thats where we came in. When we started, they recommended we walk a couple of their sites to see how they do things. Here's some pics i got

Forecast this morning was 10-15 mm of rain. All week there was a threat of massive rain fall but it never actually hit. Today it did .

Crane was booked for 2:00. Our list of things to do before the crane came was.

- add top plates where needed on exterior walls.
- mark out roof
-snap int walls out
-cut and layout in walls
- frame & stand int walks
- level and straighten walls
- finish bracing framed sections of roof.

Usually it's just me and a helper but this week I have a friend who is very experienced helping me out.. But no helper today.

By lunch we had everything done minus leveling and straightening and bracing the trusses. It's to bad the weather was bad otherwise we probably would be ready to sheet the roof first thing in the morning.

Am I the only guy who wraps the osb over the corners anymore? What about the housewrap? Is someone else putting that on?
I used to always wrap the corners with the OSB. And about 4 houses ago I made the decision that whenever framing for a builder who sets the price of the job and it's less than what I would charge if I were to submit a quote. Then I need to make up time somewhere. If they were to up their price or I were to work for a builder who pays more I would go back to wrapping the corners. The other advantage to it is that it gives my helper one less thing to think about when I get him on framing walls.

Times are busy right now so builders take the help they can get. When things slow down and guys are fighting for work people who do hack work will be getting fewer phone calls. Also why are you letting the builder dictate the price to you? If you know what it cost to do the job the right way then stick to your guns and tell them this is what it cost and this is why I'm the best guy for the job. As a GC I might tell a sub this is what I have budgeted for your trade, but that doesn't mean I always get my way.

I still don't get how it is faster to not wrap corners?

I don't understand how not wrapping corners saves time?
When you sheet the butt walls on the ground it won't cover the corner stud on the bye wall.

I just sheet bye walls on the ground, and the middle of the butt walls. Then fill in the ends after walls are up.

I also sheet over the rim boards to tie it all together.

But as far as walls pulling apart if not over lapped I disagree. That's what the double top plate if for.
