A few from the last few years (few meaning about 6)

 

 

I get to do very few "hand" frame roofs around here. 90% engineered trusses. sometimes get some complicated field framing but not like some of theses pics. Im lucky to get one or two barrel vaults a year. Im jealous.

 

Glu-lam hips, I-joist rafters and 6x laminated bearing plates on steel framing. The hips are rabbeted out and the rafters are back-cut to promote ventilation to the cupola.

 

I snapped out everything on the floor of the main house.
I didn’t have the window on site when I laid it all out, got it from the book, which is not hard
I snapped a 3” plate on the floor, made the rafter pattern and did the math for the fascia drop, snapping out both top & bottom of fascia. so I would know where the arch of the fascia would dive into
Drew in my window by swalling off a nail pin, then set my 8” ? Reveal around window, swalled the acrh until it hit the fascia.
The outside arch fascia was made from 3 layers of ¾” plywood. Two of those pieces landed on the level fascia the other one was ran long behind level fascia board. This helps lock in that connection between level and arch transition:thumbsup:

 

stick 'em and stand 'em.

 

Not as intriguing as some of these posts,but my own home,done in 01'
Kind of a funky roof line.

Nice looking house .. it almost jumps out at you on that first picture. I like the craftsman style. what is going on with the sidewalk.. ? It looks a little rough at the edges.

Does anyone have framing pictures of french county style houses where they have the curved ends on the gables. ..?

We did not build these houses ... They are from a builder in are area who build's - European / french county style house.

 

This way HO’s shouldn’t hire fly by night contractors

 

Looks like the night they flew on was some time ago....

 

Because they forget the sheeting?

Not just that
I took this job over from a bad GC about a year ago
The HO is paying me once a month with a tight budget until the bank can start funding again
These guys didn’t realize the height changed so they added an 11 7/8” TLI on top off the wall, LOL hinge point. All the window R/O’s wrong, No techoes on main beams, just temp. Post, which was pushing thru the floor and the list goes on and ob.
These tarts even framed the skylight opening in the wrong direction, they framed it sideways!
Steel beam was totally wrong. Wrong height, wrong length, not bolted
We ended up installing a new steel beam welded on top of the existing beam
This house is now sheathed and has a roof on it, AFTER TWO YEARS this is what the HO got for going with the cheaper contractor

 

Yes those 2x4’s and rope are holding that beam from pulling away from the building,LOL
They also have the steel beam flush with wood framing, how do sheath that?

 

nice house oldfrt. I like the double intersecting shed dormers.

It sure makes it easier with a lift on the job. I've had to build them on the roof most of the time, thats a real PITA.

 

I feel dirty for posting these, but at least the roof framing is wood.:whistling
