Started Tuesday. Back roof is on and sheeted. House is all back framed minus landings going up. Roof ready and trusses are built already on the ground.

2 days ago. Today was third day on it. Tomorrow will be a slower day. Got windows and doors and stairs coming for the last job. Take a few hours to get them in.
6 man crew with telehandler

 

don't know what a telehandler is, but that seems reasonable for a smaller/simpler house. we did a few cakey 3,500 sq. footers in 8-9 days each with 4 guys. including windows/doors/stairs. each house had a tiny pile of scrap leftover cause all the numbers were nice

 

A telehandler is an all terrain forklift, aka,lull, skytracker, loadall, zoomboom, just a couple brand names for ya. MAJOR labor saver on any framing job for you and your men!

 

we rent lulls for bigger houses. we'll be using one for an 8,000 sq. ft. addition we have coming up.

Put this up today. It was pretty sketchy actually. We did it with wall jacks and there was a bit of a wind. Probably won't be doing that again with just wall jacks.

Next time nail some blocks to the underside of the top plate to lock the jack between a stud and the block so they don't slide. I've lifted gables close to twice the length and close to 18' tall.

Framing 2 1400 sq foot ranch house ! Getting trusses 6 hours after we got post and beam approval !

 

Plugging away at this little guy, my partner is away in Mexico for the week. Probably the best time he could have chosen to go since the highs have been -22 Celsius here for the last few days. It warned up today to -12. For the most part I've been plugging away at it on my own. Monday I had a guy help me for about 4 hours Tuesday I was there on my own finishing off joists and today I had help sheeting and starting on exterior walls. Probably would be getting started on second floor at some point tomorrow if it weren't for the cold and if both of us were here.
