We got a couple of heavy ones to set next week. Each beam is a 12x53 25' long.

1325 lbs each. Gonna have to eat our Wheaties!

Is it standard to use a truss to hole up the ceiling on a stacked roof?

 

it is here. whether it's for a garage ceiling with no beams and posts (steel has gotten very expensive, you might have noticed) or a 28' ceiling across the great room/ kitchen, it's the way to go. It also eliminates a lot of extra beams in the floor system. We do it all the time.

8 trusses at once, how do you do it? 3 at a time is the way we usually do them. Trusses get delivered and set by the same truck, it goes fast.

Well this is what I am upto, 4000sqft of heavy.

 

The biggest single piece wall I've done. Not that impressive but seemed like a lot to me. 45x16' 2x8. Big LVL headers.

Prefabbing interiors. Had 4 units built by 9am. Chalked and built all 4 exteriors in place. Had to lift walls and brace and level the next day.

Went to pour a slab in a mansion neighbour yesterday (for lack of better term).
The house we did the slab is the one with shingles started... Wicked place.. 13' main floor.. open to above octagon.. 10'x10' skylight and all sorts of other cool features. I was taking mental notes of how they did the bell curves with struts and not actual radius wedges.. Went up on the main roof to check out the deflection to the scuppers. Lots of rippers
The framed place, i just had to stop and take pics.. Quite a big house with some very clean framing!
