They all use the brick-patterned forms here, so the foundation is generally the finished product on 3 sides. Brick or stone on the front, 1 side if it's a corner lot.

First post here. Found the site and thought these are my type of people.

Talking about bad foundations: A few years back I got a call. Contractor fired after foundation poured. Very bad. Supposed to be 60 wide, 28 deep. Out of square, level and, worst of all, more than 8" short on the back left corner and 3" or more on the front left. Also, a step foundation, level in front, 10' walk-out in back.

I managed to get the front and back parallel and , with 2x8 sill and studs, get the right side kneewalls square. The left side was too much. I framed the walls on the concrete or they would have been hanging in the air. The fix was in the floor. I put in 2 LVL beams (talked to an engineer) and turned the joists 90 degrees and cantilevered them over the wall. Finished main floor was flat and to the numbers.

Went for a trip with my buddy on saturday, checked out some of the places he framed.
I saw some things done with wood that i wish i could unsee :whistling
Now i understand why subdivision framers get a bad name (some rightfully so) Cheek cuts on hips non existent, shiners everywhere etc etc.
Nevertheless, he is doing his first house this week, and when i go sunday to help him frame the roof i will show him what real roof framing looks like.
I have a pic of Workin Kids houses in a different subdivision, i think :whistling They are huge, hats off to him and his crew.

Thats a lot better quality than around here, at least the round window sheathing is cut in an arc.

A couple room additions we did last summer. First one a sunroom, all windows and doors. Second one a hip addition on a ranch. Whole house over 3000 square feet with addition.
