These are kind of old, but I was just looking at some old pics, and thought I'd share these.

First shed done at community college

Second Shed done at community college, gambrel roof framing test.

This was habout half way done this street. We framed 12 townhouse (most 6 unit, some 4 unit). Ryan (in the pic) and I doing fascia or snapping lines or something.

I know this isn't really framing, but I think it's cool. At community college, you are required to give one day to community service, so our carpentry class built chairs for the schools day care. Fun project.

(edit: please ignore the orange and black drill... belongs to the school... not me... I SWEARS IT!)

Townhouses can get boring. Especially like that street there. It took 2 years and a few months. But we did a few other houses, duplexs, and such while we waited for foundation or something. On the other hand, near the end... they go up fast. 6 unit was to the roof in 12 working days. You remember all the measurements, the RSO's, and the fastest method to get finish back framing a unit.

Stairs in them...man. Usually 2 platforms between levels, so 4-5 riser stringers... 99.999999% of the time, they are the exact same rise. Spend a day cutting stringers. Those buildings across the street from where I am taking that picture had 108 stringers per 6 unit. Or something like that.

i've heard of them going up 5 stories, never seen more the 4 myself.

how many times did they have to re-plumb the first and second floor?

did you use regular studs for all 5? the last 4 story i was on they used timberstrand 2x6's for the first 2 floors then good old fashioned 2x4 for the 3rd and 4th. guess they reduced weight on the first couple floors and increased the strength of them at the same time.
