Thanks for dropping in. I typically do many interior remodeling to baths, kitchens and other living spaces but this big project if for my personal house we bought to live as we flip. The house is 27' X 56' with 7'6" sidewalls to the soffit. It currently has a 2.5/12 roof pitch (1.25/12 interior) and in need of new decking.
What is my best approach to hand rafter a 7/12 roof over the existing. I'd like to raise my exterior walls to 18" over the existing top plate. What ridge beam such I go with if I plan to support the beam every 8-10 feet and use 2x8s to span 15' from ridge to sidewall 24" OC. Anyone ever do similar? Thanks
PS. I will be doing 80% of the work solo, maybe hire a few of my buddies to muscle beams and rafters.
