I've just become a fulltime painting contractor after being a carpenter's helper for a number of years, so I appreciate your patience and consideration on some of my questions. I am eager to learn.
I heard somewhere that semi gloss or hi gloss latex tend to splatter through an airless spray tip. I've used satin and egshells with my machine many times, so I'm not sure if it is the paint or the tip/gun. The gun is not that old.
Thank you in advance for your knowledge and patience.

Semi and gloss are actually more of a liquid than the flatter sheens since the solids are ground up to much smaller diameters. I would say to combat this, start with either increasing the pressure of the sprayer if you can, decreasing the orifice size of the tip you are now using, or a combo of both. Hope that helps. Whenever you get splattering, adjusting those two things often solves the problem assuming your tips are in good shape.
