I've been viewing your forum for a while now. Thanks to the creators for having this site.

I work for a general contractor. We have a very large job and we have started making payments to our subcontractors. The job should last for several months. My question is:

If you have a subcontractor at the start of the job and their work is complete long before the job is over, how soon do you pay them their retention?

Seems like a pretty basic question  , but our jobs don't usually take more than a couple of months. This one will last at least six. It certainly doesn't seem fair to make a subcontractor wait until the end of the job to get their retention.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

I have a 0 retainage policy, everybody is paid when their phase is done including me. Hire the best and don't worry about it.

The last GC that tried that Horse poop on me, paid me late fee's and interest.
Why is it that the subs have to finance the GC's project?
