Restoration can get tedious. After I do a window, I want to do something else. It takes a lot of patience.

Church is moving along, they should of been setting trusses next Wednesday bu schedule and they will be ready, but the gold Bricker crane operator is taking off Thanksgivinf Eve I guess lol, he confirmed 22nd in early September. Probably the sub I have the least clout with although I use cranes often, my crane guy retired and the guy who bought his crane is a green horn, no way I'll put my men on site with green crane operator, got a new compansy so he doesnt know me from Adam. So we will cut in the side roofs and set trusses Monday the 27th.

It's blue.

The color seems off from the chip made from the paint in the can. I'm hoping it's just a drying thing. Color changes as it dries. Blues and greens are notorious for color shifting.

I had an oil paint that went on blue and when it was dried was a green blue. You could certainly see where your second coat was applied, that's for sure.


And it's gold....

Well, after the yellow primer it'll be gold.

Still needs a clear coat. It's a little darker than I'd like. But the other option was about $106 for a rattle can of gold car paint and then a clear at $25 for 4 of these little bead pcs. I think the Rustoleum Gold was $10 and I had the yellow.

A few cases for a walnut kitchen.

The color that went on the doors compared to the color sample chip they made from the same paint in the same can was different. The paint on the door was brighter and lighter. Not by much mind you. I thought after it dried overnight it would darken. Blues are just that way. But it didn't and I took my painted door and his sample chip back to him and they made a fresh gallon for me pro bono with 5% more colorant in the mix.

He says every once in a while the chip doesn't match the paint. I just find it really odd that can happen. Sprayed the base and the doors with the new paint and I didn't say "whoa ! " when it was wet so I assume it was a bit darker. I'd rather have it darker than brighter anyway. We'll see what happens after it dries overnight to see if 5% was enough. If it wasn't, too bad - I tried. LOL

 

What color was the primer?

 

Med Dark Grey. The sample is put on a paper that is 1/2 white and 1/2 black and you can't see the difference between the two.

With the 5% stronger formula it's much better. Still a bit light but it got rid of the brightness the blue had. That's what I was worried about the most because the color isn't bright.

His test sample matched the BM swatch perfectly. It's just not what came out of my spraygun. LOL

 

Panels were a little tight so I used a card scraper to take off a few thousands.

I just have clamped in place so I can build the desk drawer. Not sure what I’m doing with the top yet. I made it wide until I see what they want to do with it.

Thanks. He wants it dark so I think ill probably spray dye mixed with water or DNA then stain then CV top coat.

 

Couple projects I’ve been on this year….

This one was a complex bathroom remodel. Some really cool features though. My favorite is the hidden door/cabinet, that opens into an attic space.

 

Kitchen/dining room/living room remodel I did. Tore out a galley kitchen, and opened up the space.
