Is there a Nailer that can handle 16d nails for Joist hanger installation beside the palm nailer?

most in the market can do 2.5inch nails, 16d is 3.5"

I thought it would be cool to mod a dewalt cordless framer with parts from their cordless PPN, but the first is 30* and the other is 21* so i doubt it would work.

Now that they have a 21* cordless framer on the way, it would be cool to Frankenstein one together.

A hard hat protects the noggin, but I don’t throw tools in the air.[emoji2]

ROÍ is not even close to worth the risk. I think it’s dangerous and sets a bad example.

I already had a tooth broken out at work. I don’t want to be a maimed old fool with missing digits and a broken body for the sake of expedience.

Nobody thinks it will happen to them- until it does.

Man I'm glad I learned that move in the 80s before carpenters got all scard:tt2:

Just a fast question??? Can you tack a board in place with the hair trigger so the head is sticking out Âľ"

Keeping the head sticking up 3/4" is also a valuable technique for getting two boards flush using your hammer. I Always called it a suck nail.

Calidecks or anyone else .What did you end up doing .
I have that BIG bostick nailer .Not at all easy to handle laying on my back crawling around . Seems like either tight quarters makes placement less reliable or my tip is warn .i was missing a lot holes on this last project .
thinking i will get a gun that uses only a single sleeve of nails and shoots 2 1/2" .

Would like to add my two cents because I find myself changing positions on this issue. I'm a foreman for a small company and have used the nailgun through hanger technique for the past 10 years with no problems beyond the occasional bounce off the shoulder which was never worse than being shot by a paintball gun. Today I took a ricochet to the forearm and it stuck to the bone, I agree 99.99 percent of the time it works great...but ow. I will now be recommending all of my laborors use a palm nailer to spare my boss any work comp issues. It was a weird fluke for sure but never underestimate how bad that can get

BUT, to Andy's joking, structural screws could be an alternative to needing to hand drive a lot of 3.5" joist hanger nails.

We have a couple blind hanger applications on one of our buildings that call for 3" or better nails, but we just hand drive them or use a palm nailer when fatigued.
