I'm planning to build a small brick structure on a farm in area with no running water. There is a pond that is natural and has reasonably clear water -- more brown from wood tannins than green from algae. I assume organic material in pond water would be bad for mortar mix, but not sure. If anyone can assure me that pond water would be ok for mortar mix, would be great -- would save me large hassle of carrying water out there. I kinda suspect the romans used river water and many of their buildings are still standing!!

many thanks in advance if anyone is knowledgeable / experienced in this.
