i normaly work alone. i am on this large rehab job. i am barrowing some help from a landscaper friend. i am paying them cash money. what i been doing is pulling money out of my business account in form of a check made out to me and then paying them.
i get draws from the job and the checks are made out to my busniess that i cant cash the only way i can get cash is to deposit them into my business account and then draw from that.
my question is : have you had any experence with those ''check cashing services''. i was thinking to try to cash those job checks there to pay for my help?

Art, Doesn't it concern you, even a little, that you're putting this question in writing, in a public forum? I mean, I think this might have some kind of tax implications that you might want to consider.

Well art never gave his real full name or comapny name.

Personally I wouldn't have asked this question publicly but then again I also don't pay cash under the table. I wouldn't even know how to answer that question.

In theory I can speculate that you have two options Art. Either you place them in your records as a sub contractor, or you pay YOURSELF what ever you plan to pay them and you end up paying taxes on their money. Either way you are playing with fire.

Art, If I WERE to pay certain specialists under the table, it would be in the form of cash.
Not to say that I do these things.
I don't understand the tax implications.

sentry, This is not a 'whites only' forum. Your use of 'Jose' might be construed as a racist statement.
Please try and avoid this in the future.
BTW, one of my best friends, fellow Viet vet and hunting companion has the familial name of Torres. 100%er.

10-4 teetor but you have jumped the gun, around here, our Jose's are white. I never intended for that to be for 'whites only' as you put it. I dont play word games, I try my best to speak only the truth. But for you, I'll do better next time.
BTW, if we are calling in comps, then some of my battle buddies were named Silva, Garcia, Bautista, etc., the list goes on, all 100%ers....And, more importantly, thank you for your service in the Vietnam War.

I doubt your reply, the term here is Julio's and I think that they are both aimed in the same direction, racism. Not acceptable here.

OK, MY turn - I doubt YOUR reply :cheesygri LOL What is this, a game of racist tag? Lighten up guys. Everybody go watch the Chapelle video (2) more times.

By the way, you all must be stuck in a time warp. Around here Jose, Julio, Pedro, etc. are all yesterday's stereotypes. If we're going to be accusing each other of such things let's at least get in strep with the latest trend of illegal alien surnames. :D

Art - it's really not that hard to get set up on "payrolling" where you pay an hourly fee to another company to act as the employer of record. They'll take care of all your hr paperwork and keep you out of trouble with taxes and worker's comp. Industry standard is about 60% of the guy's payroll to do this so if you're paying a guy 10 bucks an hour, you can payroll them for about 16 an hour. It's a small price to pay for the freedom from liability you're getting and it's really the ethical thing to do. There should be a lot of companies in your area that do this - take a look around.

There is no good way to do what you are asking. I don't believe if audited that you would get by with your help being listed as an independant contractor. You would have to withold taxes and pay workmans comp etc. or get the worker from the temp labor agency at about $15 an hour (in my area)for someone that dosent even want to work. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
P. S. When this worker gets hurt on your job they will take the rest of the money out of your business and personal accounts .

 ??? Should a bankruptcy attorney expect to be paid ???

Sorry to hear that you are going to Miasma, I avoid Miami-Dade/Broward like the plague. Not real fond of Palm Beach either. How's your Cuban? The last American flag left Miami 30 yrs. ago.
You dont have to doubt me brother, The only thing a man has on these forums(or anywhere) is his word. :D And I do love the laughs and intel from this forum, helping to keep me sane while doing large take-off

Art,

"it will be a big mess...they will have problems with withholding taxes....no ss number."

I'll be polite as I can about this but stop and think about how you're financially supporting the breakdown of our border security - willfully no less. Is it really worth it?
