Pants and boots?

4892 Views 27 Replies 21 Participants Last post by  asgoodasdead
Hey guys I'm overdue for some pants and new pair of boots too. Usually wear blue jeans but looking into getting a better work pant possibly, any good suggestions on a good pant that's around $20-30 and good all around boot for around $100-120. Usually get the ariat boot at bootbarn, NOT IMPRESSED. I've owned 2 different pair both costed over $130-200 and neither lasted me more than a year if that. Opinions and suggestions please

I like Redwing for boots.A little pricey but worth it IMHO.I usually buy Levi's on sale at Kohls. Not what they used to be but still better than the others I've tried lately. Some of my guys like painters pant because of the long pocket and loop on the leg.
Nothing fancy here.
Got 5 pairs of Real Work Wear jeans for Christmas.Every pair ripped out the fist time I wore them. The inside seam at the rear pocket. Not even bending or doing work.
Wrangers for jeans....right around 20 bucks and hold up well..... For boots I wear Red Wings or Thorogoods http://www.thorogoodworkboots.com/... made in the USA and can be found for around 150.
The Dickies work pants that can be found at Wally World for About $18.

Or Levi's carpenter jeans from Target.

Second on the Thorogood boots.

Yep. This is what I have done for the last 25 years. Funny thing is the Wranglers have not gone up in price much in all that time.
I have tried nearly every boot I can find and I don't see myself buying anything but Thorogoods from now on.
Does anyone know of any dealers in Tucson az that sell thorogoods. I looked on website to try and find one but didn't. I don't know if I want to buy a pair of boots off line that I can't try on
I wear Thorogoods as well and so do several of my employees. I like Lee carpenter jeans, but wear khakis most of the time, with work boots tho!!
What kind of thorogoods do you wear? How long do they last you? I've been wearing Keen boots for a while, never the same kind though. I have yet to find a pair of boots that last me more than a year - year and a half
I wish the Thorogoods came in a composite safety toe, in the moccasin toe style.

And isn't the title of this thread wrong? Isn't it supposed to be bootsandpantsandbootsandpantsbootsandpants?

I wear black poly slacks. They wear well, clean well (as long as you don't get paint on them), and actually look very presentable at the beginning of the day. I find them to be "less hot" as compared to jeans, and they dry quickly.

Any uniform store will carry them. You can go all tactical with cargo pockets if you wish. I don't, I just wear regular slacks. I'll throw on a pair of overalls like Mike Holmes once in a while, they are actually very comfortable for crawling around, as the waist belt doesnt move around.

Boots I usually like timbs. but their Pro lines seem very tight. Non marking soles are very important, last thing you want to do is leave a skid mark on the floor.

Im also a big fan of bandana's. They keep the sweat out of your eyes, keep dust out of your hair, and you can mist it/dunk it in the summer for some extra cooling (doesn't work well here though, its too humid). Also keeps my ears tucked in from sunburn. But hey, thats got nothing to do with boots and pants.

If you can get away with wearing shoes instead of boots, I'd pick shoes any day- the flexibility is quite nice.

I wear out a pair of boots in six months no matter what brand but I work 6 to 7 days a week all the time
I have been buying Key brand jeans for about 21.00
F' Red Wings. Tried on a pair of Thorogoods. Have bought 2 additional since then. Red Wings are not even in the same league of comfort !
I use to buy Carhartt double fronts, but now I just get the 12$ jeans from Costco.

Terra boots.
Thorogood wedge's and Carhart's carpenter and logger pants.
Wrangler jeans, can't beat the price. I'm lucky to get a year out of a pair. For boots, at the beginning of this year I bought a pair of Wolverine W10103 Wolverine Nolan's. So far they are wearing better than anything I have purchased.

I've owned both. I think thorogoods are better made, but my red wings are more comfortable. going on 4 years of framing in my current pair of red wings.
I thought it was Boots and Pants, not pants and boots..
