Options:
1) Replace header completely
(always best, not always practical)
2) 2x4 and 4x6 glued and screwed
3) 4 2x4’s site built glue lam
4) 2x4 flat with 2x6 channel made solid with 1/2” ply sandwiched.
(like this option for grain orientation, except lack of good center meat for long timber screws, leaving toe nails as more ideal attachments.
Little under 20’ span with about a 2’ strong wall in the center. So basically two 9’ wide openings on gable end wall.
aside from option 1. I like option 2 for simplicity, but option 3 might have more merit. Anyone got a preference or a different option not mentioned?
