You already know the answer, but you are just looking for re-affirmation. They are cheap production and storm chaser material. They have a niche in the market, every market needs bottom of the barrell materials. I am in the same boat as you with IKO shingles around here. All the cheapo's and hacks are using IKO and IKO is about $10 a square less than good roofer grade materials.
The question you have to ask yourself is: Do I want to sell the quality of the shingles I am installing and explain why I am more, or do I want to go for the ez sale and sell a cheap shingle?
Depending on the size of the job and potential ROI; I would consider selling a production grade shingle, but only on request, and only after telling the customer I am not too comfortable with the shingle they are requesting and reminding them that shingle failures are not covered by my warranty but are by the manufacturers.
