Web guy says it's time to make last changes. I personally want more photo's of work done (I've already told him that). So give it to me, I know you guy's won't have a problem doing that.

"We were called after 8 years of fixes and leaks in a sitting room under a float roof. Complete removal of old plaster and insulation was commenced with our dust free system."

Typo?

Looks good though

Looking good. Make sure it's in your sig at forums you post, and be sure to target the long tail searchers to get the clients you really want.

BTW. There are no 'Last Changes' You'll need regular updates to get and stay on top. Don't do that and you'll fade fast. Keep the updates coming!

Your designer must have a very large monitor. I have a 15in CRT monitor.

1) Horizontal scrolling - it is too wide so it places scroll bars on my browser. Try to get it down to 960 px or so max.

2) Really large header - when I click a menu item nothing happens on the screen. I have to scroll down to see if there is something interesting.

I don't think many people have 15" monitors anymore. Most people have at least a 17+. I can tell you I don't like websites that don't utilize my large screen and higher resolution. The website looks great!!

Sorry, I have a LG e700b which is 17". But it still scrolls.
Like the background alot. I don't like that font, too puny and kinda bland on the navigation. Any way to possibly change the color also? Otherwise it looks good. Like the navigation on the top and on the left like that.

The website design looks like a basic website template you can download for free online. You may want to change the middle picture because it looks like you are a interior designing company and not a remodeling company.

Thanks guys, I knew I could count on you to offer constructive criticisms.

You know I wanted to refer back to some old threads on the FAQ page on "why hire a licenced builder" but came up empty. I think I could have done a better job on that, gave a stronger argument.

I'll look at the "float" typo, I didn't catch that.

Your right about "keeping up". I've got to learn how to update the site with pictures and such. My hired guy has done a great job (IMO) for me "on the cheap" although I think he's tired of my steady emails that go all over the place.

Great Site... I like your layout and the navigation. Very Simple.

One piece of advice.

To the right of your navigation you have a great big picture... That's great... BUT... This area is a critical piece of screen real estate. Consider adding a "call to action" there.

"Request Your FREE Estimate"
"Request Your FREE Consultation"

Something bold and prominent because ALL your visitors will be looking there.

But your other site is really nice ------> www.phbconstruction.com

I really like the text shadow effect. And your photos are really nice.

Thanks, the phbconstruction.com is going to get thrown out I think. It isn't optimized and none of the web guy's liked it. The trouble is my yellow page ad is going to have the PHB link. I guess I can make it a redirect site.

The changes are in the works as to the www.grandrapids-remodeling.com site. My web guy and I looked over your responses and agreed on some. Pictures will change, call to action phrase, more work photo's, typo.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

More photos--Perhaps by category(Kitchens-baths-basements) You need that to satisfy the question
"Does this guy do what I want?"

The comments about screen size is valid--When I went to any of your options my screen looked the same--Took a second to realize that I actually went some where different--Just a thought.

I forgot, the first picture will be scrunched down to show the header of the page picked. Yup, I agree.

I wish the page would just be separate and not have the home page header on it but I don't know if that's possible:sad:.
First off I like your site, like has already been said it's very clean and easy to navigate. It appears you are trying to target a few keywords on your site. My only word of caution it to make sure you don't over use the keyword...makes it hard on your visitors if they have to wade through a particular keyword too many times.

I agree it's too wide...thats a personal opinion not sure it hurts you.

It's are ready been mentioned but it's worth repeating...the top right of your page is HIGH VALUE, a call to action or maybe an optin for a free report on the "10 Things to Avoid When Remodeling Your Home" something. Always give your visitors something of value when they visit your site.

I would add a blog to the site...this way you can add articles and tips that target other keywords that will bring local visitors to your site. Speaking of keywords, here are a few you might want to have you web developer lok at:

  • remodeling services in grand rapids mi
  • grand rapids mi remodeling services
  • grand rapids remodeling services
  • remodeling services in grand rapids
  • remodeling services grand rapids mi
  • grand rapids michigan remodeling services
  • grand rapids remodeling contractors
  • remodeling contractors grand rapids
  • remodeling contractors in grand rapids
  • grand rapids mi remodeling contractors
  • remodeling contractors in grand rapids mi
  • grand rapids michigan remodeling contractors

Those are some low hanging fruit...just my opinion

Wow, pretty clean I like it alot. I like the fact that its simple and also very appealing, that's what makes a good website. I'm a flooring professional but I'm starting to get into graphic and web design and think your website looks pretty darn good!
