I've just had a company rewrite the "home" page and the "about us" page

Let me start by giving you my current website to see what the content is now.

Www.mlwconstruction.com check out the about usage and the home page. Those are the only two I'm having changed.

I like the new text.

It's nitpicking, but I'd skip the first part of the About Us page, up until "MLW Construction ....". People who click on "About Us" already know that it's time to re-discover their back yard, and they just want to figure out if you're the company to do it.

When you talk about "our expert contractors" are you setting the expectation that MLW is not necessarily you, personally? That phrase has a little of the flavor of a referral service. Where you say "our team of construction professionals" it doesn't have that connotation. That's also just nitpicking. It's better than before, for sure.

The new text on both pages is much less anonymous seeming than before.

Thanks Bob, I was looking at that part about our expert contractors too. I will have that changed. I get three tweaks so that will be one of them. I do like the your idea of "our team of construction professionals"

That is very well done Mike. I'm sure you will see some great ROI.

One thing I noticed is your mentioning your bonded. I recall (and found) on the CSLB site the following:

"Don't advertise about bonding
Contractors are forbidden by law to advertise the fact that they are bonded. It could lead the public to believe there is a higher level of protection than might be the case."

I know it is stupid, it's government.

Why is it illegal to advertise bonding? Because it gives you a competitive advantage?

Because your bond isn't insurance for the customer. Guys were showing their bond to customers trying to pass it off like they had insurance for them. The bond is a requirement, and is only to give the CSLB instant money to pay for any damages in case you break licensing laws.
