My flooring an my subfloor are the same. It was covered in carpet by the last owner. As I walk I feel gives and dips. I want to install 1/2" plywood over the flooring, minus the carpet. However when I get to the stairs the flooring is in plane with the top step. How do I finish the floor with the 1/2" ply where it meet the top tread Help and Thank you much.
If I understand right you're upstairs dealing with the nose of the top step?
You could cut the nose back even with the top riser, and your 1/2 inch even with that, then, depending on what your new floor will be use something in this shape....
If carpet, level witht he 1/2 inch, if other use with new flooring.
g'luck
