"Hi, I'm what some people call a storm chaser, but they don't know what they're talking about. I noticed you had hail damage on your roof when I drove by, and was wondering if I could come by and do a more thorough inspection and give you a quote for repairs."

Don't forget to smile...they can hear your smile through the phone :)

you're welcome.

Get someone with very broken english, say somewhere over in the mid east somewhere... people just love love love hearing those calls come in, start them off with: We are offering free roofs to people in your area...

"Good morning/afternoon. My name is Jim Pee and I do roofing work in the area and the reason for my call is that I noticed some of the houses in your neighborhood sustained some hail damage from the storm the other day. So I am looking for work and I was wondering Sir/Maam, has your home sustained any damage from the storm?"

If they say, "Yes" then make an appointment.

If they say, "No." then ask, "Ok Sir/Maam. Is there any other work that you think you'll need on your home at this time?"

If they say "No" again, then thank them for their time and pleasantly wish them a very nice day.

everyone is different.....one type of personality could say one set of words and have it work great, while another personality would make the same words sound horrible..

be a man...come up with your own line.....its your business....your the owner and it sounds like the lead salesman too.....be yourself and write out some words....then throw them here and we can evaluate.......

its not right to ask strangers to give you the answers with 0 effort on your part...do the research and work 1st....then throw us your sales pitch

I'll subscribe to that thought process, however, he still needs help getting started. So I would like to hear what the OP comes up with based upon the suggestions that have already been made.

What type of prospect are you dialing, cold call, warm call? What type of product are you selling? 3 tabs, Archs, Steel, rolled? What market are you working in (one that typically experiences insurance issues or one that doesn't? No matter what it is, you should start by referencing doing work in the area, that just provides a basis for the call.

If if you show an OOA # your major rebuttal will be are you a storm chaser? Half truths are probably good for this situation, because yes, that's what you do, but it doesn't have to sound like it. I imagine this company has some experience, start with that. You have dozens of years experience, you operate as a National company, you specialize in helping home owners with the problems they face in these times, being a specialist in this area helps you facilitate this process much more efficiently vs other contractors. You would like the opportunity to provide them a solution......

I would build around that. Just envision what the most likely rebuttals will be, then you build the script to defend against that.
