im here in west central indiana ,iv got a deck estimate im working on for a 16'x22' two level ground deck all pt wood on a 10 degree slope, the material is approx. $2400 .20 mile drive one way and a STEEP drive way.iv got two laborers for $13 an hour and ill have to be there the whole time ,so im thinking $2400x3 =7125.00.should take about a week, and theres a couple weird tweeks i have to figure out but nothing major.
whats everyone think about my price?

Don't forget permit fee, dump or dumpster fee, overhead for that week over 52 weeks, your own profit, contingencies on material, material waste, contingencies on labor, marketing materials for this job, extra time running to the yard, couple new blades, and putting extra $ into a reserve account for if/when next recession hits. Is that all covered in your price?

Make sure you have the materials cost figured out. From there 2.6X materials and adjust up for contingencies.

Your 3X may be OK, no way I can call your contingencies

I just wonder how in the world it takes 3 guys a week to do that. Nothing indicates it's complicated.

I could spend 2 weeks building that solo, but I'd be on the phone most of the time.

A 13$/hr tender would only see ~ minimum wage here in Iowa....on the check...

NO ONE will block tend for less then 15$/hr, the two handed get 18$+

Are you paying your help as sub-contractors?

How does the drive way angle effect deck/Patio cost? Hand carry everything into the work area?

Air nailed deck boards?

You'll be bankrupt in 6 months with bottom-feeding prices like that.
your gonna go bankrupt if you don`t just use your balls , and think about it , every time you bid.

walk thru your whole job , step at a time , how much just to excavate , and layout
how much just to set the posts in cement
how much to set your runners/joists/supports/

how much to install decking

your basically doing a lot of small jobs to complete the big job
if your not sure of your timing , if you trust one of your guys enough , talk with him , not about numbers , but say " ok. how long do you think you guys will take for the digging / the setting the posts/ the actual decking?

come on buddy , figure it out.

if something goes wrong , and it takes a couple days longer , will you still make a profit?
or would you end up behind the 8-ball?

you just don`t want to end up , where if it takes a day or 2 longer , your paying out of your own pocket.your just losing some profit , but still have some profit

16'x22' is $11,264 minimum, no way I'd do a deck that big for 7k

Of the top of my head that deck would cost close to 18k and that doesn't include any railing. Composite of course.
