I've tried using DIF with little success. I'm going to try a steamer next. If the steamer doesn't work what other options are there.

FIL is a paint contractor. That's how he does it and now we do as well. Just a pump garden sprayer and keep it wet for a while. We have the little hand held scoring tools. My bro texted me a photo of the Festool one last time he was stripping wall paper cause it takes so long with the small things.

Let us know how that Festool one works out for you cause we strip paper quite a bit around here.

We strip plenty of paper. Standard procedure for me is as follows:

Try to strip face layer from the backing, done dry and if reasonable progress is made then continue.
If progress is too slow then we score the paper and apply remover - usually DIF. Keep it wet, usually wet every 10 - 15 min for as long as we need to. Be patient and let DIF work.
Now try to scrape off the face layer.
Once face layer is off soak backing with DIF and strip the backing.
Then soak walls again and use a scouring pad to remove glue.
Wipe down walls until clean and not slick.

Stubborn paper will get use of a 4" razor knife, causes a bit more damage but repairable.
Never had to resort to a steamer. I would think they are too slow.
Stripping paper can be real work.

I remember back in 09 i was doing a floor and there was a painter in there after me with two helpers. They stripped, prepped, and painted the whole house interior for 1600.00. The guy said he didnt want to do remodel work because you always had to buy another tool and it was too expensive. Whiskey tango foxtrot.

I'm dealing with some tough paste right now. No access to hot water. Going to use microwave to heat it up today. Thought about bringing my camp stove too.

At least the walls were sized for once  paper falls right off.

Did one room last week. Glue took two soakings with water to remove. Going to try piranha or dif today plus hot water.

Also the thought entered my mind to try my PC sander/vac with 80 grit.

Mid 80's glue.

Noones even mentioned using one of these.

The paper pulls right off. Just the paste is left.

Have you tried the cheap Wagner electric steamer. It works wonders if you can keep the water off the floor.

Steamer would be too slow.

We blew a good sized room out the other day. Cold water so far. Going to try hot today and see if it makes any difference. Lost the lid to my gallon milk jug the other day and couldn't heat any up.

perforator, warm water, vinegar, and old newspaper.

Spray wall down, stick old newspaper up. the wall papers never seem to absorb the water easily, but the newspaper keeps the whole thing damp. Sprits a few more timres, and it comes off. The glue I've had left behind, that I just spackled and prime/paint.

Its interesting how tacky wall paper can look in a house, yet looks great in a restaurant/bar.

I have the Festool perforator. For multiple layers it is great, for a single layer it is a bit too harsh. It's depth adjustment is a bit crappy, it also only works in one direction, not back and forth, that tends to make it a bit awkward to use.

So yea it's ok, multiple layers is where it excels. I believe it is a discontinued item but they are easy enough to find online. Frankly it is over priced for what it is.
