PWG, once you change it, you need to wait. I did the same thing a few weeks back and mine vanished in seconds. It is now slowly populating back up. It will get there, but not sure if there's anything proactive you can do about it.
An FYI, Google Maps seems to have changed quite recently. They have changed many things related to my area. My street name is now incorrectly spelled, there is now a road listed to our gravel pit, our dead end road (since the 40's) is now live again, and horrors of horrors, it says the local HD is permanently closed (oh....may I have that wish please?)
