About a yer ago i bought a Dewalt Drill and impact combo and I've had pretty well nothing but trouble out of them the batteries dont last well and they constantly overheat. I mainly bought them because i got tired of stringing out air lines on the farm and at work. I build bucket and digger derrick trucks so i drill alot of steel and aluminum. So I've decided to go to a Milwaukee m18 fuel dill and impact I was just courious if it would be worth the money and if they were all they are all they're cracked up to be.

Im pretty happy with my Dewalt 20V recip. Im sure the Fuel Sawzall is probably better in a lot of ways, but once your in, its hard to get out. lol. I only went milwaukee 12v for the baby jig and the radio. Their pricing is spectacular compared to the bosch 12v (which are the only two real 12v competitors IMHO).

I have a red fuel impact and drill/driver. Love em. I also have a bunch of red 12v tools. Very handy.

As for the question, when drilling through old doug fir joists, my drill will slip the clutch when it gets well into the wood. Its a pain. I may have the wrong bit but I always revert to my d handle for the tough jobs. That being said, for drilling something like 1/4 inch steel, I would take a sample and go the the vendor and ask to test out his milwuakee fuel. See if you like it. No use spending all the bucks and not getting what you want.

My local HD has a buy 2 bare tools get a charging kit (149 value) free.

I'll have to use the arithmetic to figure out if it's better to get a kit with 2 batteries, then a bare tool, or the above deal with an extra battery.

I have not seen a kit that has the sawzall and the 7-1/4" combined, that would be an ideal set up for what I do.

No drill? The Fuel hammer-drills are sure nice.

OT, but would you guys say tools brands are a regional thing. Sorta like paint....

I'm working on this job right now. At least 4-5 subs are all rocking Makita. I'm the only one rocking big red...

BTW, newest big red acquistion - the portaband. Thing is awesome !
I LOVE my new portaband. That is one of the better investments I have made. Of course I got the corded instead of cordless because that works better for my needs on that tool.

Because I'm left handed and the blade is on the other side opposite of the 6.25 directly to my line of site. The .001 lb lighter is a non issue. I can still put a 6.5 blade on the 7.25 if I really wanted to get it a little lighter. But that doesn't make sense to me. Not to mention I get a 24 tooth 7.25 Diablo blade for 5 bucks a piece and the 6.5 blades are 11 bucks a piece.

this is the first time I haven't had to look over to the other side of the saw to see the blade on the cut line. It's really nice. Didn't realize what I was missing all these years.

I just picked up a Fuel sawzall and the 7-1/4" circular saw today.

I had to order them online and have shipped to store, the HD here has an offer that if you buy 2 tools they will throw in a charger and one battery for free. Of course when I went to pick these up the Milwaukee Rep had left for the day and the HD staff could not understand the deal with the bonus charger and battery.

I'll have to go back and talk with the rep and get it squared away tomorrow. The rep actually told me to order the 7-1/4" saw online, then bring it in, since it is not stocked at any local stores yet. I ordered it and had it shipped to store, then the clerks were like, "But you did not buy it here".....

I've opened up the boxes, these look pretty sturdy, I can hardly wait to get 'em dirty.

I'm sure the eye candy helps sell Milwaukee. The one think that also is helping Milwaukee is the switch Dewalt had from the 18v to the 20v max. Guys that had Dewalt 18v tools are wearing out now and Milwaukee has a competitive cordless too line now. Another thing that's probably helping sell red tools is Milwaukee is really aggressive on the promotions. I'm always seeing a a free battery or bare tool deal when you buy an M18 or M12 kit. Milwaukee really did turn things around to become a pretty big player in the cordless tool space now.

I am impressed with the strength of the tools so far.

Turns out when I ordered off the HD website, I ordered the "sawzall kit" which came with a battery and charger. That was not eligible for the bonus charger and battery.
I talked with the rep and asked if I just bought another bare tool would he be able to do the free batt/charger deal, he said sure lets go look 'em over.

I decided to get the 1/2" impact wrench, (700 ft.lbs. fastening torque, 1,100 ft.lbs reversing torque).

I tested it on some lug nuts on the pickup, spun those loose no problem, so I headed out to the dump truck, my 1/2 air gun has problems with the dump truck lugnuts. Well that little Milwaukee loosened one right off the bat, no trouble at all.

I am truly impressed.

You are making me jealous now :notworthy. Those are the 3 tools I'd get out of the M18 Fuel lineup. That 1/2" impact will basically make you air guns obsolete. Only time you'll need air is for size and weight reduction, but then you can just move to the 3/8" fuel impact.

Don't forget your impact sockets (no chromes)
