Is putting extra mildewcide in your exterior paint worth it? I always have, but am now beginning to question it. What do you do?

Most exterior paints have mildewcide in their formulations to inhibit mildew, but it does not make paint mildew-proof. Keep in mind that paints labeled as "Interior/Exterior" do not usually contain a mildewcide. In certain climates with high humidity and moisture, mildew is more prevalent.

Added mildewcide should be done according to the package/manufacturer instructions. Adding too much extra mildewcide can affect product performance.

Like the other poster mentioned. Always check on manufacturer instructions and recommendations. A little extra shouldn't hurt, but you don't want to alter the original paint product too much.
