Can metal roofing ever be installed without using a transition flashing between the two different pitches and shouldn't the lower piece of roofing material be attached under the upper piece, with or without the transition flashing? I have seen the upper piece of roofing material under the lower piece. Seems like water would run right under where these two pieces meet.

aegisroofing :I don't think they installed my metal roof improperly. I haven't been able to get up there to look at it. It appears from the ground that the bottom panel is on top of the top panel (the one with a pitch) I don' think these guys (Amish) would install these panels improperly. This is rental property but I still expect it to be done right.

When I say slice I mean I crimp the sides of the rib inwards so when folded down the rib collapses on itself and stays in the same line of sight. The first pic I saw it looked like the rib was just hammered over to the side . I think it was just the angle I was looking at thou. The rest of the pictures look beautiful.

This is a finished roof with the seams flattened and seamed into the custom made skylight flashings. It can be made with continuous running seams if that is requested, it just takes more time. I'm not sure what you mean by "slice" the seam but it sounds like a potential leak.
your work is very nice. The projects require experience.

Couple questions.

Why are there different sized panels used.?

Will not zinc corrode when moisture remains present, doesn't flow well?

There is probably, what guys?, 300 years of experience on this page alone?:laughing::laughing::laughing:

The copper roof of Hildersheim Cathedral, installed in 1280 A.D., survives to this day. And the roof at Kronborg, one of northern Europe's most important Renaissance castles that was immortalized as Elsinore Castle in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, was installed in the 1585 A.D. The copper on the tower was renovated in 2009. I see no problem with metal roofs when installed by properly trained professionals.
