The smaller batteries from the white tools do not fit on the blue tools. The bigger batteries fit on all the tools. I've changed them back and forth and never had a problem.
Search the forums its been discussed alot. There is a ridge of plastic that stops you from putting the white ones on some of the blue tools. I reckon its due to the high current draw of the saws and such.
Are you guys sure about this? I have the white impact driver kit and I added the blue right angle impact as a bare tool. My white batteries fit. Although Makita does not recommend using that battery in the full size tool. I've never tried to put the white battery in any of the other tools.
ALL the batteries are interchangeable in all tools EXCEPT the circular saw and recip saw. Those two have a stop clip that prevents you from inserting the 1.5 batteries into them. You must use 3.0 batteries in those tools. I have both white and blue drills/impacts and interchange 1.5 and 3.0 all the time.
