LLC Necessary for Partnership Company

Anyone know whether we can form a partnership contracting company in NYC without it being an LLC? If so, how?? We've found out that an LLC is very expensive--especially the publication requirement.

Partnership is a different type of organization than LLC. An LLC offers some legal protections, a partnership does not.
What Thom said. In a general partnership you are putting yourself at risk for things a partner may do without your knowledge. FWIW, our LLC only cost $750 total.

I am in Oklahoma forming a new LLC partnership. My partner is the business guy, I think he said its costing around $150 to form it, he's a bit of a shadetree attorney.

We had the perfect name picked out, in Oklahoma anyway there cant be multiple registered same name LLC's. So we had to change our name a little. You might want to look into that before you get carried away.
I didn't mean a legal partnership, but just a business with 3 guys.

You'd better make sure it's legal. In a partnership the crap hits the fan eventually and it will be good to have everything documented. 3 guys just kinda working together means whoever sold the job will be on the hook for comp., UI, liability, taxes........

Good Luck
