Outside an entry door are a light on each side. Customer wants to add 4" trim around door. I told him that will encroach on the lights and he said the light could be moved without moving any electrical box???? I never heard if that. He claims the light could still be moved about 2 1/2 inches without having an electrician move the box. Is this correct?

Its just your standard light thats on each side of an entry door. Usually there is some slack in the wire so you can actually move the light but not the electrical box behind it. The mount plate can be moved as well.

If your gonna trim out the door and move the lights anyway, you can probably move the box as well.
