Hey all, this question just came up during a meeting where the homeowners tile person he used for his home (we’re building his summer home) stated that Prism grout is superior to other grouts in almost every way. We’ve never used anything but Laticrete and have no reason to change. I’ve never heard of Prism, is it really everything his contractor is telling him it is?

It’s just a cement based grout. It’s comparable to Permacolor. If your using cement based grout I’d use either one. I switched years ago to Spectralock epoxy and more recently been using Spectralock 1. Not sure I’d be saying how great it is when there is better grout.

For residential we use Prism which is great at resisting staining and doesn't need a sealer. Quicker turnaround time.
On commercial jobs we use Spectra because usually the specs are calling for an epoxy.
Meh, it's not really high on the list of things to concern ourselves with. Most products are reasonable and acceptable when installed properly.

I asked our tile guy about Prism a couple weeks ago when grabbing stuff for a bathroom. We typically used Custom or TEC. I grabbed a bag of sanded and unsanded Custom not knowing what he needed, and he said the Prism costs a little more, but can be used for situations calling for sanded or unsanded, and he was fine using it if that's what we got him.

Considering how badly he chewed me out over the client picked vanity handles (with adjustable spacing, so a little set screw/assembly required), him not demanding Prism over regular Custom stuff means its fine but not world beating better to him.
