Yes & No....if you buy it KNOWING it's a throw away in a few months. Are Kobalt air compressors considered junk?![]()
The air compressor selection at lowes is getting pretty thin these days. They no longer carry the hitachi or blue emglo twin tanks.
I do want to try that blue hawk twin tank hotdogger.
That's because Lowe's owns the Kobalt name. The entire tool section at Lowes seems to be lacking these days. I think they are turning into Sears. Seems all the Lowes around here want to push Kobalt and everything else is an after thought.
I needed one right away and the selection locally sucked so I bought this:http://www.lowes.com/pd_57655-30449-0200382_0__?productId=4686711&Ntt=air+compressors&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNtt%3Dair%2Bcompressors&facetInfo= Granted I don't use it daily but I'm surprisingly happy with it. Normally I wouldn't buy anything with a Kobalt name on it except mechanics tools.
I was actually looking to buy this:http://www.amazon.com/Makita-MAC700...9677410&sr=8-2&keywords=makita+air+compressor or a Rolair.
It's not bad, around here a lot of guys have the pancake style Porter Cable which I find annoyingly loud I don't hear that with the Kobalt. It doesn't take long to refill during use either. The reviews on the Kobalt are pretty good. Just curious, how loud would you say it is, or isn't?
I've had a P-C pancake and Bostitch pancake, and they were real noisy for interior work. It's not bad, around here a lot of guys have the pancake style Porter Cable which I find annoyingly loud I don't hear that with the Kobalt. It doesn't take long to refill during use either.
For the price it was worth keeping and giving it a try. I've had it since August and have been using it the last 2 months in a basement. I also bought this: http://www.amazon.com/Legacy-HFZ3850YW2-Flexzilla-Zilla-Green/dp/B001C6NC7O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1399702641&sr=8-3&keywords=flexzilla+air+hose and this:http://www.amazon.com/Milton-715BK-Style-Quick-Coupler/dp/B0000225EC/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1399702836&sr=8-7&keywords=air+coupler+quick+connect I think the couplers and hoses available locally are crap.
I've got two of those little compressors---nice design--no parts to get smashed off--light and small enough to pack into a full truck.I needed one right away and the selection locally sucked so I bought this:http://www.lowes.com/pd_57655-30449-0200382_0__?productId=4686711&Ntt=air+compressors&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNtt%3Dair%2Bcompressors&facetInfo= Granted I don't use it daily but I'm surprisingly happy with it.
