kidney stones

Talk about pain . Anyone been through this ? Here was how it went for me this week .

I get back from vacation and start kitchens on 3 models for a new builders on Tuesday . That night my lower back is killing me . I think I am soft from being on the beach for a week .

I keep working on the kitchens but it is hot and humid and my back is getting worse . I drink beer Wednsday night until the pain is gone .
It's back later that night . I haven't had more than 3 hours sleep a night since Monday .

Thursday night I end up in the ER at 1:00am and am diagnosed with kidney stones after a cat scan . They shoot me up with dilaudid and send me on my way at 4:30 am . I am on the job Friday morning at 7 to install 2 countertops that were delivered late Thursday . I guess I am pretty tough . The super was impressed as he saw the bandage from the IV and asked what happened .

I am now feeling pretty rough and the percocets they perscribed just aren't as effective as dilaudid given by IV .

I hope a weekend of rest makes me feel better .
I have another kitchen to install on Monday but I cannot do it if this pain is still hitting me . I may have to postpone it if I'm still hurting . Can't be a good thing for me physically to try and hang cabinets in this kinda pain . Maybe I'm not so tough . LOL

ouch!!

I know how you feel, in January I had a kidney infection. I had the same symptoms. That old phrase "pi**ing razor blades comes to mind
Pain is just weakness leaving the body. Suck it up and drive on. Oh, BTW, until they blow those little suckers up and you pee them out, it'll only get worse.
Been there, took a week off of work thinking I had back problems. At the end of the week I found myself in the hospital with a pain that felt like I had been constipated for a year all in 10 minutes. It wasn't pretty and that kind of pain is intense. I still have them and they only bother me once in a while.

So you still have stones in your kidneys ?? You get flare ups ? Do you pass some of the stones when this happens ? I want this to go away and never come back if possible .

I am going to go to a urologist this week for a more in depth diagnosis and what to do about them .

I hope that is a little sarcasm there . I don't think I can suck it up when I am on the floor writhing in pain . Don't think the super will feel to good about how the install will come out either if I'm bent over crying all day .

They said if they were big they would pulverize them at the hospital . After the cat scan they ended up giving me the shot and sending me on my way . The Er doc said the side where my pain was I had already passed them except maybe a small piece or so . The other side he said was not at the point of trying to come out so there was nothing else for them to do .
I think I'll get a 2nd opinion this week .
Been there. Why does it hit in the middle of the night.
I had them puverised, thank ?God, thouhg that had to do it twice!
What a racket. If we didn't do it right the first time, I have ti fix on my dime. A Doc doesn't get it the first time, oh well we do it again, on my dime again...
