A real rags to riches story from a high school drop out to a roof helper with his dad to owning a roofing company in Wisconsi, to Starting ABC Supply in 1982. Net Worth 3.5 Billion Dollars. How will that help him now.

2 versions of the story out so far.

One, he went on the roof to check the progress of construction and the other that he was walking on a deck above his garage, (roof or attic???), and he stepped on a blue tarp covering a hole and fell to the concrete floor below.

One of the stories news reports are here:

All construction is hazardous.

Be safe for yourself and your families and friends.

Here is a link to another story about what happened.

It gets to me more because it is close to and right before Christmas. That has to be the saddest way for the surviving members to always have to think of this unfortunate incident right before the most anticipated Holiday.

I actually find it absolutely ridiculous to believe a guy with his (roofing and construction) background would venture onto a tarp spread across unseen and ongoing construction.

I'd venture to say he had a heart attack or stroke or something and took an unfortunate dive.

God rest his soul . . .

If it is suspicious death, then there are many theories to support a suspicious death:

1. His Heart/stroke/medical conditions like you said above? This is strong reason.

2. Someone/wife/family members "intentionally" set up or hire somene to kill him by drugging him (maybe because of his rich fortune or other family disputes/issues?) - Maybe yes, maybe not?

3. He set up to kill himself for getting his life insurance$$ (like many cases from rich people that we always read in newspaper) ? - I doubt this theory.

4. Just an unfortunate accident 3 days right BEFORE holiday (because he has way too much drinking that night, absent-minded, forget, etc.) - I also doubt this theory. Over 20 years, he MUST know what the blue tarp is for, why it is there, and who did put there? Or did he just slip his shoes on wet/snow roof surface?

Anyway, after the coroner's report is done, police, FBI, and crime scene investigators love to disect and examine his body and physical evidences around his house to find any foul play contributed to this case & his death.

God bless the old man's soul! -Amen-

How about he FELL THROUGH A ROOF..... not really that hard to comprehend. Ive heard tons of stories of people falling through tarps. Ive also heard tons of stories of roofers running tar paper over chimney holes in new construction, and guys falling straight through to the basement. Accidents Happen, and they can happen to anyone.

I know a guy who went through Tyvek over a doorway on a wall that was still laying down. He fell straight from the second floor to the basement and suffered massive injuries. The guy was no bonehead either. It just takes one single moment of distraction.

Update from Bloomberg:
Put away the conspiracy theory Mel Gibson, it was just an unfortunate accident to a rich guy who still acted like the regular Joe worker, just with more toys.

Ed

He was taken to a hospital in Beloit, Wisconsin, and then transferred to Rockford Memorial Hospital in Winnebago County, Illinois, where he was pronounced dead, the Associated Press said.

``He fell from the ceiling of the garage, between the joists, and fell to the ground,'' Knudson said. ``My understanding is that he was inspecting above the ceiling. This appears to be a very tragic accident.''

Hendricks, who learned the roofer's trade working alongside his father, was ranked 91st on Forbes Magazine's 2007 list of the richest people in the U.S. with a net worth of $3.5 billion.

Ken Hendricks, founder, chairman and CEO of national building materials distributor ABC Supply, Beloit, WI, died early Friday morning, Dec. 21, after suffering a massive head injury after a fall at his home Thursday. He died in surgery.

About 10 minutes after returning home Thursday evening, Hendricks walked out of his house onto the floor of an addition to his home that was under construction to see how much work had been completed. He fell from the flooring deck.

OK, 10 at night, after a party, walks out on to a blue tarp in an area under construction....I hate to be the one to say it, but that isn't too smart. It's a shame to lose a regular guy like that when there are so many greedy, ruthless, (Trump) wealthy people.
