I added a dash cam to work my truck today, I hope I didn't jinx myself.

I get cut off or nearly crashed into almost weekly it seems, so the odds are stacking up against me. Last time it was a pain in the ass with the cop, so I would rather have digital proof of my innocence in the event of an accident or attempted insurance fraud.

This video is what got me off the fence about getting one.

It's wired to start when the truck starts, when the truck is shut off there is a 3 minute delay where it will keep recording on battery power.

I have it set up to record 5 minute chunks and it will loop when the card is full, meaning that it will delete the oldest file to make room for the newest one. I have a bigger card on order right now, but it should be able to record about 90 minutes of footage at once right now before looping.

So provided you shut it off shortly after an incident you will have all the videos from it.

It can be set up to lock files with a G-force sensor, but the forums say that feature is finicky and you can lock too many files.

The whole set up was around $100 including the hardwiring kit and the card.

How 'bout sharing the model number, and where to get it?
I read up a lot on them before buying, and the best bang for your buck it seems is the G1W for the budget priced group, but there are tons of knockoffs floating around.

I got it from here.

with this mount

and this hardwire kit combined with an add-a-fuse tied into the Heater blower fuse

Some people are pretty sad... I'm curious as to what the guys issue in the blue car was. It didn't seem as if the guy with the dash cam had done anything that would have resulted in him getting attacked like that. Good thing he was carrying!
He handled it pretty calmly too. I would have had him leave his phone on the ground though, and then called his mother after he left and told her which police station they could pick it up at.
