I never lay tile straight onto osb. It should be torn up if you don't want it to crack in the future. Have you ever torn up tile that was laid on plywood or osb versus tile laid on cement board, HardiBacker or Ditra? Huge difference.

You've never torn out tile I set on plywood.

OSB isn't recommend and is excluded from recommended substrates by the TCNA, however some plywood is acceptable.
