Man I hate not being present when materials are delivered. It seems every time I am away, there is some problem. Short, late, damaged, wrong location, color, theft... Its past coincidence.
Yesterday, the block delivery guy backed his forklift over one of the dropdowns in the foundation wall. Where it bottomed out/got stuck, looks like a 4 ton sledghammer smashed it.
He felt really bad.
I just laughed when they called me, I thought they were kidding.
Good thing I love what I do or I would have a breakdown.

Most all the projects I do are fenced in - so if I'm not there they get rejected. If wrong materials are delivered - rejected. If materials are delivered damaged - rejected. Suppliers get the picture very quickly.

Most of my jobs consist of one delivery. I usually try to have the materials delivered the day before I start the job so I know they will be there for my guys. Nothing is worse than paying 5 roofers to stand around waiting for materials because the supplier said 8 am and the materials how up at noon.
