Hello, We are looking for a new furnace to replace an 80% carrier 58GFA 84000btu. We have a 3 ton heat pump that works above 30 degrees. The house is about 3000 sq ft (counting the heated finished basement). Just wondering if a high-efficiency 2 stage furnace would work correctly with a heat pump, or if only one stage is necissary. We live in northeast Ohio where at its coldest it is about -5 degrees. I have read that a two stage furnace is much quieter and saves energy, but I am not sure if you ever need 3 stages of heat. Also, about what size (btu) would we need for our house?
Thanks for the help.
