My husband and I have been in the paint business for more than 20 years, much of that time doing interior apartment repaints-- basically blow and go style. We're thinking of getting back into the market again, but the last time we tried door-to-door marketing, it was painfully difficult. We've got a nice website, color flyers, researched current prices, etc.

We understand that once you're "in" with the current crowd of apartment maintenance and managers that the work does come to you. But how to break the ice? My husband wants to hire some young, good-looking guy to smile at the girls in the office while I prefer to go the email/trade show/marketing route.

So, what's worked for you? BTW, we're in a major metropolitan Florida market.

Thanks.

We deal with Apartment Complexes, and my only advice is develop relationships with the staff to get to the decision makers.

Its a hard road, but it will pay off in the long term.
