Well, I’m in a bit of a bind.
We’re racing the winter and ground freezing solid, and things just won’t cooperate.

I’m pretty determined to do this project myself, and while the hardest part is over (installing the leech field), I’d like some input on the septic tank itself.

I had a nice hole dug, nice and squared up edges... and then the snow, and rain came and filled the hole. Twice, back to back.
Ive since pumped it about as dry as I can, but after dumping 12” of 3/4 stone on it, all I did was waste 150$ and created mud pudding.

The clay content is really high here, and apparently so is the water table.

I dug out the mud, to dry-er (butcertainly not dry) soil, but now I’m far too deep. I was thinking of putting 4” stone in, and topping with a fair amount of 3/4” to grade off to what I need.

Any reason this would be a bad idea?
