Prison-toilet combination units provide a single fixture where people can relieve themselves and wash up within their cells. Sometimes called prison comby units, they house a toilet and sink or a toilet, sink, and drinking fountain (bubbler) within one compact, vandal-resistant fixture. They're made of stainless steel or other heavy-gauge materials, so they won't crack or shatter like porcelain toilets.
Um... I may just be a dumb electrician, but that bathroom certainly doesn't look like it's in Japan. From what I understand, they build them to be totally waterproof... no shower enclosures... no exposed drywall. Literally built so you can pressure-wash the entire room.
