Got a Dayton 12" table saw about 2 hours away for $600 on Craigs List. Anybody have any experiences or info? Worth it? Not worth it? Piece of crap for future reference?

The Biesmeyer fence alone probably cost 3 or 400 bucks. It looks heavy, but quality. Is it made in America?
Someone on another forum was questioning if it was a true Biesy. Unfortunately it's Taiwanese. According to Grainger who distributes it.

Searching dado sets and 12" would not be much more than 10". Although with a dado I guess all one would really need is an 8".

Thanks B! I am always on CL searching and have found the ones you listed. The Rockwell for $485 has been on my list to call.

I just happened by the Dayton and never heard of it or seen one so I thought I would ask.

Might be ok,.....I can't say much about the Dayton .......

That one for $485.00..... if she is in good shape that is an exception price....

But as you know- you need to give it a personal visit to make any decision......

Best of luck in your quest...

PS: just be aware of the phase , not that 3ph is a problem- either RPC or VFD ....you'll need to spend some additional coin but (IMO ) well worth it......

Something to beware of with 10" Dadoes....
My 10" 5hp (1ph) Jet Chokes, starting up, on my 10" Dado Set with more than 2 chippers, if it's warm out...Well OK Above 90 in the shop. It works but I'm sure it's hard on the start capacitor.
My Old mans 3hp Grizzly had issues starting with the same set-up.

8" is the way to go, especially if your hogging out deep 3/4" dadoes in solid hardwoods.
Only advantage, 10" or bigger, is doing blind stop dadoes for something like a mail or organizer cabinet. With fixed 1/4" shelves. And you don't want the dado to be exposed in front of the shelf in the box. Much easier to get the right fit with the 10" radius vs 8". Those situations are rare.

Have replaced compressor and table saw motors with "Dayton" products ... No complaints

B,
I picked up an 82 Rockwell unisaw on kijiji for about $350 last year. Had a 3 ph motor which I originally replaced with a 1 ph that I had in the shop with the help of a custom bracket I fabricated ( anybody who's familiar with unisaws will know what I'm talking about. Ended up building an rpc with the help of kijiji again for about $200 and run my unisaw and thickness planer with it. Lots of hood deals out there
