I ran across this on another forum, Backstreets.com . I thought I would share with you guys. Should I refer him to this site?
Anybody with similar experience ever go through this -- what's a ballpark figure for a residential addition with the following specs, northern NJ:
Existing home is a small 1300 s.f. 1940 colonial with 3 BRs, 1.5 baths and a deck. Here's the job:
Remove existing deck
Add 2-story, approximate 700 sf addition out the back of the house, consisting of 1st floor family room (260 sf), 1st floor office (100 sf); on 2nd floor, above FR add master bedroom with shower-bathroom (260 sf) and above office extend an existing BR (100 sf). Include masonry, framing, cedar shingles, asphalt roof, Andersen Windows, drywall, oak floors (except bath -- tile), plumbing (shower, sink, toilet), electrical.
Budget for new deck and central air throughout entire house.
Don't include bath fixtures or painting in estimate.
