What I'd like to know-
How much you are spending on ads and on what?

How big is your company (employees, sales rep, etc)?

What type of ads work best for you?

We do roofing, siding, gutters, and windows. 2 full time office employess, 4 sales guys, 6 in house production workers. when we're too busy, we sub out.

The ads we do
30k a year on post cards that reaches 1.2 million consumers.
7 thousand a year on door to door flyers that reaches 160K consumers.
15 thousand a year on coupon savers that reaches 1.3 million consumers.
1k a year on online seo.

We decided to amp up on ads because a lot of our competitors aren't renewing their ads with the same promo companies we go through.

Just off the top of my head for the moment~

$3k a year for an add at the local movie theater (plays a 15 second add before every movie shown at the theater)--Got 2 Sunroom sales totaling over $40k

$10k-$15k for home shows (we ordinarily generate over 400k from the overall combination of all the shows

$1k-2k for our own in house direct mailings

Few other things here and there,...but it's early--let me think some more:blink:

Oh,..and~

An in house installation crew consisting of 4 guys-

3 sales reps-

The boss-

and me (the inside guy)

how much for ads

Congrats on the ad pulls from the theatre. You're the first person I've heard of that tracked closed sales to that. :)

Many guys I know are working with a budget of 5-12k a month. Depending on the geo are of the country- their mix of ads vary. Some still do YP print. Rare, but in some places, it's still a needed outreach. Thier monthly runs about 2500 mo - 3500.

Couple guys I work with do very well in specific magazine ads. They also run about 2500 mo.
Last year our best producer by far was events. We were at over 30 events; home shows, fairs, flea markets, street fairs etc. Our total cost for this without the staffing was near 40K. The remaing monies spent were print ads, jobsite mailers, and a few other things which frankly didn't produce well at all. The market place is changing rapidly. Things that worked two years ago are not nearly as effective today. Our total marketing % last year was 7% with lead cost of $145.00 per lead. That's pretty good considering the times.

Buddy- that is good. One of the guys I work with did well at home shows too last year. They've added a few more this year. They have a very unique product for the home owner. It's a higher ticket item too- so it seems the combo that works best for that price point is the home shows, a specific magazine ad to a tight target demographic, the organic web presence we've gained and their follow up of leads from the home shows.

Keep up the great work. Stay consistent on what's working.

Walk in tubs?
ads

No- swim spas.

The one's they sell are not the usual ones you see on TV. Similar, but better. They offer a combo of a hot tub and swimming pool in one unit. Their's is different in that it's the first swim spa that has an underwater gym built in.

They've done a lot of installs this year. I know they have more coming up. Kind of cool. They've worked with contractors/ builders all over the states who are doing custom homes and remodels. One builder put one up on a rooftop. (It was an ocean view home and they wanted to really enjoy the view.)

One just installed a unit in a very small patio. A pool wouldn't work there.

I have to say, they are really awesome. They've figured out a way to drop them into an existing pool bed that's been drained. Some of the home owners want water, but need to reduce expense of the pools. These fit the bill.

I could go on about these.. but I'll keep the post short. If you want to know more, PM me or you can see their site at: www.aquaticfitnessconcepts.com

We do our fair share of postcards, BNI, SEO, email but to be honest my best draw for leads is an article I write monthly for a local specialty newspaper for women, its called The Women’s Journal....

After all who makes most of the decisions in the home; it’s expensive but works..

I wear all the hats and my crew varies depending on work load but I learned long ago market market market.......and market some more...

Yes we do get referrals but if you want to stay in business and make money for 30 yrs and more ya have to advertise....
