Hello everyone, my question is how many inches should a PVC facia board overhang the soffit? Standard standard length of PVC that I have is 1”x8”. I am doing 6 inch gutters with arctic white Hardie plank siding. Secondary concern I have is that if I ask my contractor to rip the facia making it smaller, is there a way to ensure the cuts will be perfectly straight?

Sounds like a concern to address directly with your contractor.

If you can’t trust the Contractor you’re paying tens of thousands of dollars to, to build your house, what makes you think you’re going to trust a bunch of strangers on the inter webs. 😳🙄

I'm wal more interested in that building paper, never seen it, looks interesting.

The facia looks fine the way it is.

These can be fixed, or soffits can be introduced to make shut roof. ... For example, CertainTeed Ironmax soffits may traverse 24 creeps without extra ... You may likewise wish to introduce a vinyl belt cap over the sash board that encases the ... the under-eave regions and increase the length by the width for each shade.

Make it at least as tall as the gutter. Anything beyond about 1/2 below the soffit is enough to form the drip edge to keep the water from traveling back up .
