I've had my landscaping business for about 6 months now, and all I do is just line trim yards, with my specialty doing yards with DG in it and I take a lot of time to get all the weeds out below the rock line. Sometimes my prices don't add up well for larger yards, because I spend so much time getting it down to bare rock and looking extra clean, so I'm curious what everybody else is doing? I've seen larger landscape companies cut down to about an inch and then spray, but I've also heard that you should spray and let it soak in then cut, but I don't know if that's advice for people with lawns, because as everyone knows here in at least in Arizona that the weeds grow extremely high. I don't have any kind of background and Landscaping at all this is just kind of a business I fell into and I made good money so I kept doing it, but how are big landscaping companies, or people who really know what they're doing handle this? Attached below are pictures of a couple before pictures of yards I've done.

I'm also curious what the rates are and everything else that kind of goes along with it too.

Dude line trimming by itself is just spreading seed around. You're not solving your client's problem that way. Cut it down, spray, then offer to come back every 3-4 months to maintain.

I pay some guy named Javier to come out 3 times a year and spray pre emergent. The blue carcinogenic stuff. I haven't seen a weed in my yard in 4 years. $40 a pop and the HOA keeps their mouth shut.

Find out what that stuff is, buy a backpack sprayer and dominate the entire neighborhood. That's how I met Javier. This mf even drives through after a good rain to see if he needs to spot spray anywhere. Good dude. Be like Javier.

Colorado state university has an excellent information page regarding subjects like this, as it pertains to Colorado.
Maybe Arizona has something similar.

I'll check that out. We have the UbofnA community coop extension and it has excellent write ups. Couldn't find a good weed one though. I'll check the Co. One out

No matter where you are, it gets broken down into preemergent application to prevent seed germination, herbicide to kill growing weeds, and if you actually have grass you want, fertilizer.

Preemergent a couple weeks or so before the local weeds normally germinate, herbicide when the weeds are growing .

Plan on 1 trip for preemergent, and 1 trip to mow and herbicide.

Different areas have different conditions for germination and different conditions for growth. The exact product will vary depending in the weed types you have locally.
